Possible New American Flag Redesign in the Near Future?
Adding Puerto Rico as the 51st state means also adding an extra star to the American flag. Almost lost in the excitement of the presidential race was another event that would greatly impact the United States. That is, Puerto Rico voted on joining the United States as the 51st state. As a current territory, the switch to state status can only happen by an act of congress. Listed below are among the several ideas that have been floated around on how a an American flag redesign would look with the addition of the 51st state: But, what would happen to the American flag we have now with 50 stars and 13 stripes? Another star needs to be added, which is easier said than done. The placement is crucial. The stars now follow a lined pattern but an extra one would throw off the flow.
