Out of the eight teenagers in this year’s open she was the only one to reach the third round.  Stephens carries American interest in the women’s draw into the fourth round after powering past her opponent, Mathilde Johansson, the hometown favorite. Ranked 79th in the world and making only her fourth slam appearance, Stephens, hit 26 winners in the third-round on Friday to eliminate the 27-year-old, Johansson, from France.  Stephens beat Johansson in just over an hour and a half 6-3 and 6-2. The young Sloane Stephens best previous slam performance was last year’s open where she was home at the third round stage.
