Flown Flag Given as Gift for Care Packages
Madison receives a flag from the Navy as a thank you for care packages. The Borough Council in Madison, New Jersey helped the U.S. Navy in their own special way by sending care packages overseas. This is just one of the ways local communities are getting involved and helping boost the morale for armed forces overseas. Employees of the Borough dedicated their time to wrap up donated canned foods, toiletries, paper products, and more. The unit of Dominic DeRosa, a former Madison volunteer firefighter, graciously accepted the gifts, but not without giving one back. Petty officer DeRosa presented the Borough Council with a flag that was flown over Fujairah. Enclosed with the flag was a certificate reading: “Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Eight (MSRON Eight) was recalled to active duty on 05 August 2011 in support of the Operation Enduring Freedom. During this operation members of MSRON 8 were deployed to the Southern Arabian Gulf providing essential Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection for maritime assets.
While deployed, members of MSRON 8 displayed the highest dedication to both their mission and country. Their actions epitomized the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
The accompanying United States Flag was flown above Combined Task Unit 56.7.2 … ![]()
